This 3rd Edition Hofbrauhaus porcelain beer stein depicts two historical scenes from the HB brewery in 1900 and 1960. The scene from the 1900's shows an old transmission brewing system and the large copper brewing kettles from the 1960's are on the right. One side features an old Bavarian brewers guild motif of a brew vat with malt shovel, mash stir rake, trowel and barley ears. The text reads "Hopfen und Malz - Gott erhalt's" meaning "Barley and hops - God preserve them". The reverse side shows the Hofbräuhaus brewer's assistant "Julius" is pictured, a tribute to the guild of helpers of the master brewer. Today Julius stands as a figurine on the roof of the HB brewery.
