This hand-painted, relief decorated German beer stein features three panels illustrating famous landmarks from Rothenburg, well known for its medieval buildings. The front depicts the Plönlein, a small triangular square in the city where two entrances (a gate and tower) can be viewed. A knight stands guard over the scene. The left shows the romantic hotel Markusturm. A traveler is depicted in this panel with drinking horn, walking stick and lantern. The right depicts the Rathaus or town hall with a town officer drinking from a large stein.
Each panel reads "Rothenburg o.d.T." (Rothenburg over the Tauber River) with the city coat of arms.
The base and rim are bordered by a fortified medieval city ring wall. Relief pewter conical lid and cobalt blue background.
