Product Description
This DIY German advent calendar is in a pop-out and put together 3D format. The enchanting Nisse, lovingly illustrated by Eva Melhuish, are hard at work preparing for the holiday at their red cottage nestled among the forest trees. On each day of advent a new piece is added until the final freestanding decoration is revealed on Christmas Eve. The assembly is simple, pop-out the cardboard piece and place it into the corresponding numbered slot for each day.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
