This German advent calendar depicts the manger scene in a cave with shepherds, wise men, sheep, oxen and a donkey gathered around Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. Angels play trumpets & horns to celebrate the birth of the Christ child, while shepherds tending their flocks in the hills behind stand in wonder at the Star shining over Bethlehem. A light from heaven shines through the cave onto the baby Jesus.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
