Product Description
This German paper advent calendar with glitter accents shows a scene of a Christmas Market spanning the banks of the Nyhavn (New Harbor) in Copenhagen, Denmark. A glittering display of lights frames the scene and a shooting star lights up the sky. Iconic Copenhagen row houses & boats add to the Nordic Christmas atmosphere.
Some of the windows of this calendar reveal other famous buildings, landmarks & symbols of Copenhagen, as well as, festive Christmas motifs.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
