Product Description
A Christmas celebration with the farm animals is depicted on this German advent calendar with glitter accents. The farm yard is full of smiles and extra attention to the animals this December, horses enjoy a bushel of apples, a friendly hen is cuddled, a sheep receives some fresh greens, pigs some fresh scraps and a pail of treats is on it's way. The geese honk with excitement at the activity. Pine trees flank the traditional German style house, well decorated with ornaments and lights.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open, with each hiding a small picture; new details are added to the farm scene each day as each door is opened.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24 in anticipation of Christmas. A great activity to count down with family.
