This beautifully detailed advent calendar depicts a vignette of the Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) in Nurenberg, Germany. The Christmas market in Nuremberg is one of the oldest in Germany dating back to the 1600's. The snow dusted Schöner Brunnen or Beautiful Fountain towers over the scene.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
