Product Description
A dramatic display of the Ravenna Gorge Railway Viaduct in the Black Forest of Germany with a festive Christmas Market located underneath is shown on this German paper advent calendar with glitter accents. A train passes over the beautifully lit arches and market below, bellowing steam into the frosty night air. The magnitude of the viaduct is felt in this picture, as it's size dwarfs the sprawling Christmas Market at it's feet.
Some of the windows of this calendar reveal other famous buildings, landmarks & symbols of the Black Forest region as well as, festive Christmas motifs.
The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. Each door has a little picture behind it.
Tradition of the Advent Calendar
The tradition of the advent calendar dates back to 1851 in the Protestant parts of Germany. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas.
