Product Description
Faithfully Reproduced Traditional 2 Liter Beer Stein
This traditional style stein prominently features in finely detailed raised relief, a scene showing two bouncers seizing a young freeloader attempting to avoid paying his pub tab. The pub owner has approached him and is pointing his finger at him as if to say: Hey young man, first pay your tab!
The stein further portrays, in direct contrast to the freeloader, the paragon of the well behaved drinker: He is on his way to the tavern and has his very own beer stein attached to his belt. He is accompanied by his wife of course, who has a well-filled money bag affixed to her belt, perfectly placed for paying the bill.
The entire scene is richly adorned with prominent raised relief flourishes and bears a well known poetic German drinker's proverb written in large and elaborate Old German Script: "Gerste mit Hopfen gibt gute Tropfen", which directly translated in rhyme means: "Barley with hops produce great beer-drops".
This stein features an impressive facon lid, cobalt blue background and beautiful hand painted accents.
The mold for this stein was owned by Eckhart & Engler who ceased production in the 1970's. The original mold was purchased and this freeloader (Zechpreller) stein is now being faithfully reproduced by King-Werk GmbH.
