Trier Beer Mug
Product Description
This Trier Beer Mug shows the Porta Nigra or black gate, the largest Roman city gate north of the Alps. Hence, it has been designated a World Heritage Site. The name Porta Nigra originated in the Middle Ages due to the dark color of its stone. The original Roman name has been lost. The banner at the top reads "2000 Jahre" or "2000 Years". As the Porta Nigra was originally built in grey sandstone between 180 and 200 AD, it names the 2000 year anniversary. The Trier coat of arms is displayed below the banner. It is the oldest city in Germany, founded in or before 16 BC. Gray stoneware mug.
